Questions for Sophia

As a painter, what techniques or technologies do you typically use in your practice?

Creating a stretcher frame prepares me for my painting. Not only is it cheaper than a prefabricated stretcher frame, but I can also choose the exact size and the most suitable material. Above all, however, this analog and manual preparatory work puts me in an almost meditative mood for the painting that follows.

What usually encourages or motivates you to learn a new skill?

I am motivated to learn a new skill if it expands my expressive possibilities, presents an exciting challenge that pushes me out of my comfort zone, and if the enthusiasm of the instructor is contagious.

In your opinion, what makes someone an expert?

Experience, knowledge and perseverance.
